From 31st of October to 13th of November, UN Climate Change Conference 2021 was held in Glasgow, UK. Professor Seung-Jick Yoo, and researchers of Climate and Environment Modeling laboratory; Su-yeoun Jung, Kyung-eun Bae, Hye-Young Yang, You-Joon Won attended to conduct research project on climate change negotiation strategy as part of delegation of Republic of Korea, as well as to host a side event in Korea Pavilion.

The purpose of hosting side event was to introduce modelling activities on climate change and their results conducted by Climate Environment Modelling Laboratory, Graduate School of Climate Changes in Sookmyung Women’s University.

Dr.Seung-Jick Yoo gave an overview of modelling activities at Sookmyung Women’s University, and Ms.Su Yeoun Jung gave a presentation about key outcomes and issues of K-ETS during the 1st & 2nd planning periods (2015-2020). Ms.Kyung Eun Bae introduced research on the effect of a price collar in the K-ETS, Ms.Hye Young Yang demonstrated the effectiveness of GHGs reduction policy in road sector, and Ms.You Joon Won gave a presentation about extending the K-ETS to road transport sector.

At COP26, it is decided that Dr. Seung-Jick Yoo will serve the second term of Paris Agreement Implementation and Compliance Committee.

Since our researcher continuously participated to climate change conference from 2019, we keep making an effort to develop specialization on climate change negotiation as well as informing our research activities.
